A committee from the lower house of the Russian parliament reported that they have sent documents to Russian prosecutors and the foreign ministry, which they believe demonstrate „Romania’s interference in Russia’s internal affairs,” according to the TASS news agency.
Deputy Vasily Piskarev claimed on Telegram, Russia’s most popular messaging app, that „the forum materials of a ‘terrorist organization banned in Russia’ have been analyzed” and that „the gathered materials have been sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office for legal evaluation.” Piskarev also mentioned that there should be a „decision in accordance with (Russian) law” and that the Russian Foreign Ministry ought to „respond politically and diplomatically” to the Romanian authorities, who he accused of providing a ‘terrorist’ group a parliamentary platform to organize provocations against Russia.
In his statement, Piskarev indicated that the materials he describes as hostile originated from the recent forum titled „The Black Sea: the Future Border for a Secure and Stable Europe,” held in the Romanian parliament. This forum, which displeased Russian officials, was organized by the „Post-Russian Free Nation Forum,” a group created after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The organization’s stated goal is to establish „41 independent, free, developed, and successful states instead of a mad Empire,” according to its official website. This organization has been banned in Russia.
Piskarev is believed to have evidence that proposals made during the forum included plans to „withdraw Russia from the Black Sea,” which could constitute criminal offenses under Russian law, as reported by TASS, citing the Russian deputy’s Telegram message.
