The exotic plants greenhouse is being built at the Galaţi Botanical Garden. The Galaţi County Council’s investment of over 15 million lei is nearing completion.
Inside, palm trees approximately 20 meters high will be acclimatized, as well as hundreds of exotic plants. There will also be a space for temporary exhibitions, where students will carry out educational activities.
The spectacular greenhouse is approximately 2,500 square meters, and the authorities have also made two surprise investments. It is a space that will reproduce an area of the tropical forest and an elevator. It will climb over the palm trees, so that tourists can see the forest from above. Also, through the huge windows of the greenhouse, tourists will admire, from a great height, the Danube, the Siret, the Dobrogea Mountains, but also the spectacular bridge over the river in Brăila.
„We are preparing two big surprises. Inside the palmarium, there will be a spectacular elevator that will climb up to almost 20 meters, offering visitors a unique view of the giant palm trees. Moreover, we are setting up a special area where visitors will feel like they are in a real tropical forest,” said Costel Fotea, president of the Galaţi County Council.
Experts estimate that the new greenhouse will attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
